Drop Ceilings Birmingham AL: How to Clean Ceiling Panels
Suspended ceilings are designed to give old or unfinished ceilings a fresh and beautiful finish.
Repair and installation for acoustical drop ceilings is easy and inexpensive. One shouldn't neglect them once they are in place.
Suspended ceiling panels are made from different materials such as plastic, mineral fiber, fiberglass or metal. Since they are so high, they're susceptible to dust and smoke, which can leave them looking dirty.
To ensure their elegance, you should clean them every four months.

What You Will Need
- Drop cloth
- Safety Glasses
- Dust mask
- Vacuum with nozzle and soft brush
- Static duster
- Ladder
- Lint free cloths
- Sponge
- Bucket
- Eco friendly liquid dish detergent
- Dry melamine sponge
- Cap or hat to cover the hair
Here are the steps to clean dropped ceiling panels.
Step One: Cover Floor
You'll need to cover the floor and furniture with drop cloths. This will protect them from dust and drips. Make sure to put your safety glasses and dust mask on before you begin. Lastly, you may want to cover your hair with a hat or cap.
Step Two: Dust or Vacuum Ceiling
Using a vacuum cleaner with an extended nozzle and soft brush, remove the dust and other loose dirt particles from the ceiling panels. If you don’t have a vacuum cleaner with an extended nozzle, a static duster will also work.
Step Three: Clean Drop Ceiling
Dampen the lint-free cloth in warm water and wring it out in order to eliminate excess water. Proceed by wiping the panels gently in order to remove any dirt or dust particles that may be stuck on them.
If there's any heavier debris such as grease or nicotine, mix one tablespoon of an eco-friendly liquid wash detergent into one gallon of warm water. This should be done in the bucket.
Dip the cloth into the mixture and wring it out to eliminate the excess water. Wipe the ceiling with the cloth and make sure you continue rinsing the panels until they are clean. Once the panels are clean, you can now rinse them with a clean damp cloth. Let them dry for a minutes.
Step Four: Eliminate Tough Stains
If there are any significant stains present, you can remove them with a dry melamine sponge but don’t rub them too hard as this can damage the tiles.
Warning
- Do not step on top of the ladder
- Keep children and pets out of the room when working
- Do not soak panels with water or cleaning solution
