Drop Ceilings Birmingham AL: Reducing Noise
Many strive to get rid of noise in their homes and workplace.
Noise can be problematic, especially in an office setting. Here are some ways to sound proof any building to reduce unwanted noise pollution.

Five Ways to Sound Proof Your Ceilings
1. Look for ceilings with high acoustical ratings: When shopping for ceiling styles, make sure to look for ones that have a Noise Reduction Coefficient rating of 1.0. This rating will insure that your new ceiling will block 100% of noise that hits it.
2. Decouple your ceiling from the floor above it: Space provided between the ceiling and the upper floor creates a sound barrier. Drop ceilings are a perfect way to provide this space.
3. Add mass: Adding mass to your ceilings can greatly reduce the amount of noise that breaks through. Fibered tiles, like drop ceiling tiles, have plenty of mass, but are light weight enough to easily install.
4. Use insulation: The area above your ceiling should be insulated to better reduce sound. There are many different types of ceiling insulations to choose from and it's an affordable way to reduce noise.
5. Use sound dampening paint: A quick and easy way to sound proof your ceiling is painting it with sound dampening paint. This will give some added sound insulation for a fraction of the price of replacing an entire ceiling.
But remember, this will only give you a certain level of noise reduction. If you have a lot of noise in one area, dampening paint might not block out enough sound.
