Installation in Five Steps
1. Install the Main Grid Runners: In order to establish the drop ceiling grid, you will first need to install the main runners.
These will be used to support the entire grid and are a vital part of the system. The runners will be slotted every 8 inches to support the linear tees.
2. Installing the Wires and Fasteners: Next you'll want to install support wires. Make sure to install them every 4 lineal feet and secure them to something solid such as metal beam.
3. Installing the Wall Angle Perimeter: This L-shaped track of metal will need to be installed along the perimeter of the grid system.
If drywall has been installed, you may secure it directly to the wall. If no drywall is present, you can safely install the track to the room beams.
4. Planning the Grid Layout: During this step, you'll need to determine where your lights will be placed.
Any other accessories you want to add will also need to be mapped out. This step will make it easy to place lighting and make electrical work faster.
5. Finishing up the job: Now that you have your grid plan laid out, you'll need to put everything together.
First you'll want to secure the main runners and the 4-foot cross tees to the wall angle. This process will take more than one person.
Instead of installing the system by yourself, having a professional is highly recommended.
This will ensure that your new ceiling will be installed properly and you'll have peace of mind knowing it will pass inspection.
